How has this lunar month manifested for you so far?
We began with a theme of Authentic Self (re)Born, inspired by the New Moon in Cancer, the Solstice and an Annular Solar Eclipse. So many powerful energies were at work, and you may have felt a pull from many directions.
Perhaps the grounding energy of the Full Moon in Capricorn (a Cardinal Earth sign), arriving on July 4-5 along with a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse, can give you a grounding respite from those energies, as Grandmother Moon reaches her peak and begins to shift to her waning cycle.
Or perhaps those powerful lunar and solar energies are firing up your need (or strength) to release that which no longer serves you?
Full Moon in Capricorn (July 5 @ 04:44 UTC, July 4 @ 9:44 PM PDT)
Some call this the Full Buck Moon. It is also known as the Thunder Moon, Hay Moon, or the Wort Moon. What will you name it? For me, it is the Yellow Flower Moon, as I see so many yellow blossoms all around: St John’s Wort, dandelions, poppies, wild mustard, Oregon grape ivy, tansy, yellow yarrow and more.
In this first Full Moon following the Solstice, we find the Sun in Cancer (Water, Cardinal) and the Moon in Capricorn (Earth, Cardinal). The Sun represents our will, while the Moon represents our emotions. These are interesting dynamics — and not without a little tension — bringing together the private, homey, nurturing/mothering influences of Cancer with the ambitious, detail-oriented, career-focused Capricorn. With these influences, we are simultaneously looking inward and outward, focusing on our inner life and outward goals, our will and our emotions. And the Moon Mansion is in Sa’d al’Dhabih — with its essence of speed, escape and personal power— which also embodies and strengthens our ability to release.

And yet these Cancer-Capricorn polarities do not have to be a choice, an either/or. We can have both. We can find the balance between the two, giving a rich depth to our choices and actions.
The energies of the Solstice and the Eclipses can raise our awareness to our own transformation, to the shifts in perspective that have been whispering quietly just under the surface of our conscious minds… urging our hearts and souls to align with our growth and our authentic Self, releasing whatever is holding us back from doing so.
Sometimes the thought of change can be daunting, as we prepare to let go of familiar patterns or beliefs, even though they no longer serve us. They can become a weight or burden that we unconsciously carry spiritually, physically or emotionally, even though those same patterns may feel comfortable, “normal” or “safe” on a conscious level. We may not consciously know what the letting go will bring, although we can trust that our Wise Inner Self is fully aware!
But . . . if we let go of what no longer serves us or honours us or no longer reflects who we are, can the challenge of that process be more difficult than hanging onto those same burdens? Can the potential discomfort of change outweigh the possibilities that exist when we step into our powerful, authentic, aligned, inspired, wondrous Self?
Create space for something wonderful to come in!
On Saturday, July 4th, check out our post on a release ritual with stones (now posted!), using the grounding Earth energy of Capricorn. You can use this on the Full Moon or in the waning cycle until the next New Moon.
