We are approaching an Equinox on September 22nd,  a time when there is a momentary balance of Light and Dark around the world. At this Equinox, the Light Half of the Year tips toward the Dark Half (north of the Tropic of Cancer, the Autumn Equinox) and from the Dark Half to the Light Half (south of the Tropic of Capricorn, the Spring Equinox). My friends in the tropical regions may not notice what is for them a subtle shift.

The Equinoxes are always a prompt for me to consider balance in my own life, and the seemingly opposite energies in my life. But perhaps these simply elements of the same thing.

Someone once suggested to me that achieving balance was an impossible task. He asked, “How can we humans have perfect balance when the Earth itself achieves it only twice a year?”

That may be true… but are we looking for perfection? For absolutes? Can balance be maintained at all times, or do we also need to fully experience those waxing and waning energies. Each are a gift to us and part of that great cycle of life that ebbs and flows through us all.

Perhaps we are looking for agility or learning to dance with the energy of our souls, to waltz and whirl with the energies of Father Sun, Grandmother Moon and Mama Earth as they — and we — energetically flow from Yin and Yang, and from Yang to Yin.

Nothing is static. Everything changes and transforms.

These shifting energetic states teach us how to adapt, how to flow, how to experience the world in different ways — and how to accept all of these as natural, neither good nor bad, just as they are. This year in particular has been an example of the necessity of adapting to new circumstances in a quickly changing world.

It is perhaps a time to consider our Sacred Contract with our Self… how to sustain and honour it, and to manifest it in both light and shadow, rising and falling, expanding and contracting, Yin and Yang, Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine…

Know and accept YOU, Be YOU, in all your varied energetic states — expanding, contracting, at rest, in balance, changing and transforming — but always connected to Self.

That, to me, is Balance. That, to me, is Balance, Harmony and Duality supported by alchemical transformation. Let that be your Superpower!

I invite you to explore this in our newest course Autumn Equinox Season: Embrace Duality and Balance. Registration is open now, and the course begins on September 18th.

In the words of poet Nayyirah Waheed, from “Nejma”

the truth is

you were born for you.

you were wanted by you.

you came for you.

you are here for you.

your existence is yours.

yes.

Yes !
