Blessings on the New Moon in Aquarius 2020 which arrives January 24th, at 1:42 PM Pacific Time, which some observe as Lunar Imbolc (Northern Hemisphere) or Lunar Lughnasadh (Southern Hemisphere).

And perhaps most importantly, this New Moon heralds the beginning of a new Lunar Year — the first of the decade  — which in Chinese astrology focuses on the energy of the Metal Rat: creative, communal, resourceful. Sounds like a great complement to the Aquarius Energy!

Of course, one could argue that we are still in the previous decade but either way, this energy of this new lunar month is so powerful and sets the tone for all that follows in this lunar year.

Last year, the New Moon in Aquarius fell on February 4th, after Imbolc, and my theme then — Forging Sisterhood — was inspired by the Imbolc goddess Brighid and by the archetypes we were then studying in our “13 Moons, 13 Goddesses” course: The Blood Sister and The Priestess.

And it was also an appropriate theme for Aquarius, a fixed air-y signed that celebrates community but also innovation and creativity in new projects and fresh ideas.

This new moon is about your potential, and how you can express your true Self in our world.

For me, the New Moon in Aquarius is a reminder that we are starting to move past the energy of the Winter Solstice, when the energy is so deep and restful, when we connect to Earth and our Ancestors as we prepare for the coming of the first Spring celebration in the Wheel of the Year: Imbolc.

Start to feel the power of that rising Spring energy, and the Air and creative energy of Aquarius. Listen to it. Feel it. Sense it. Let that energy inspire new ideas, new projects. Feel the Quickening of Mama Earth and of your Wise Inner Self. Connect with that primal force that awakens the plants and animals from their Winter Rest, that powerful force that triggers the yearning for light, that stimulates new life from the Earth and the remnants of last year’s harvest, and moves us to action.

A Tip for your Soul Work

If you haven’t already done so, this is an ideal time to work on your Vision Board for 2020, or to set a “word of the year”.

Do a New Moon card reading, one for the energy or wisdom of each the four quarters (New, First Quarter, Full Moon, Third Quarter) and one for you.

Listen and follow the messages and wisdom from your heart and soul this month, as you prepare for the coming of Imbolc (or Lughanasadh if in the Southern Hemisphere) on February 1st.
